  • Paris, France | 1980 | Soundboard | FR: Maurice Barrier (Jean Valjean), Jean Vallée (Javert), Rose Laurens (Fantine), Fabienne Guyon (Cosette), Gilles Buhlmann (Marius), Marianne Mille (Éponine), Christian Ratellin (Enjolras), Yvan Dautin (Thénardier), Marie-France Roussel (Madame Thénardier), René-Louis Baron (Combeferre) Notes: In September 1980, a stage version of Claude-Michel Schônberg and Alain Boublil's French concept album "Les Misérables" directed by veteran French film director Robert Hossein was produced at the Palais des Sports in Paris. The show was a success, with 100 performances seen by over 500,000 people. Most of the concept album cast performed in the production. MP3 (Tracked) | 206.10 MB

This is similar to the latter, but the libretto has been slightly revised so that parts are closer to the musical's final form. Most notably, Gavroche's death scene is much closer to its familiar form. MP3 (Tracked) | 216.20 MB

It is significantly longer than the final version and has a lot of different lyrics compared to the better-known version of the musical. WMA (Tracked) | 259.20 MB

I just about had a member of the ensemble in my lap during Master of the House and you can hear Cosette very well during One Day More. Enthusiastic audience, "Stars" in particular was well-received. Fred Johanson was a fantastic Javert, Dan Ekborg a horrid Valjean. Thénardier forgot one of his first lines, and I recall Javert forgetting something in Act 1 as well. MP3 (Tracked) | 138.90 MB

He was clearly very excited and everyone was so supportive. Also the first show for Amy Pontjodikromo as Little Cosette. She sounded a bit nervous at first, but she did such a good job! The show itself was a bit chaotic: several timing issues, voices cracking, Milan briefly forgot his lines during ‘Who Am I?’, Ellen had trouble maintaining her Madame Thénardier voice. The stage of this theatre is very big and I think they changed something about the staging because of it, but several people (almost) tripped and/or slipped on the stage today, most notably Yannick during the wedding scene. Luckily he was holding a staff, otherwise he might have stumbled into the orchestra pit. You can actually hear him fall silent for a moment and say ‘oh’ right after he tripped. Includes a video of the curtain call. M4A (Untracked) / MP4 | 298.00 MB
